Buffalo, New York partners with CYVL to power data-driven infrastructure decisions
Announced by Mayor Sean M. Ryan alongside the city's 2026 paving list, the partnership brings CYVL's LiDAR-based assessment platform to every Buffalo street — informing paving priorities and a first ADA transition plan update in 12 years.
The City of Buffalo has selected CYVL to bring infrastructure intelligence to its roadway and sidewalk network. Announced by Mayor Sean M. Ryan alongside the city's 2026 paving list, the partnership will use CYVL's LiDAR-based assessment platform to collect detailed, objective condition data across every city street — informing paving priorities starting with the 2027 paving list, and enabling Buffalo to update its ADA transition plan for the first time in 12 years.
“This investment is part of a larger emphasis we are putting on prioritizing areas of need and doing the work the right way the first time. By using technology and focusing on need, we can make smarter investments, stretch taxpayer dollars further, and deliver better results for residents.”
Mayor Sean M. Ryan, City of Buffalo
“Not every mayor would commit to this level of transparency and accountability. Mayor Ryan did. This partnership will put objective data behind every paving and sidewalk decision. Buffalo is joining a growing network of forward-thinking cities — including Boston, Atlanta, Green Bay, Nashville, and hundreds of towns across the US.”
Daniel Pelaez, CEO & Cofounder of CYVL
Daniel Pelaez spoke alongside Mayor Ryan, Deputy Mayor Swanekamp, and Public Works Commissioner Skipper to announce the partnership at a press conference. The partnership reflects a broader shift by the city toward needs-based infrastructure investment — putting real data behind every dollar spent on roads and sidewalks.
