Atlanta and CYVL prove a new model for data-driven road maintenance
Atlanta used continuous road-condition data to cut downtown potholes 60%, improve pavement from fair to good, and launch a citywide expansion across roads, sidewalks, curb ramps, and signs.
The Atlanta Department of Transportation used continuous road data from CYVL to guide a targeted downtown pavement program ahead of the FIFA World Cup. WSB-TV and FOX 5 Atlanta reported that downtown potholes fell 60% compared with 2024.
FOX 5 Atlanta reported that downtown pavement condition rose from 63.5, rated fair, to 75.3, rated good. A repeat assessment on Courtland Street measured an even more visible change: 53 before paving to 89 after, a 36-point improvement.
