Mesquite's own staff rated every city street in about a week and are planning five years of road work from it.
Doing the driving themselves kept the cost down, which the director called the big factor for a small city.
- 1 week
- for city staff to drive every public street
Mesquite's field crews rated the city's 85 miles of roads themselves, and staff typed the results into a pavement history by hand. The director says it was only as accurate as whoever entered it. As a small city, it needed better data at a cost it could carry.
Cyvl shipped the sensor and city staff did the driving, which kept the cost down. They covered every public street in about a week. Street photos sit behind each score, so the director can see what a rating is based on. The city is using the scores to plan future budgets and a five-year forecast of paving, seal coat and striping work.
